The university is a multipurpose institution.
In addition to preparing competent professionals, it
aims to be a community learning centre, an idea hub,
a focal point for practical and theoretical research,
and a development engine that makes real difference
to lives of the people in the city and beyond.
Its mission is to:

for further education to secondary school graduates
from Burao, the surrounding regions and the country
at large

Prepare much needed
professionals such as doctors, teachers and engineers

with the private, public, and voluntary sectors to
raise their knowledge and skill

through research centres and institutes

seminars, workshops and conferences
